While Passiflora (Passion Flower) and Morning Glory (Ipomoea) are both breathtaking, fast-growing climbing vines, they are two entirely different botanical families. Sometimes people combine the names when looking for exotic, heavy-blooming climbers, or because both flowers open up beautifully to meet the morning sun.
Passiflora (Krishna Kamal): Famous for its highly complex, multi-layered exotic flowers, crown of filaments, and delicious passionfruit.
Morning Glory: Famous for its clean, trumpet- or funnel-shaped flowers that open fresh every morning and heart-shaped leaves.

  • Light: Requires full sun to bright, partial shade. Needs at least 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight daily to yield heavy, spectacular blooms.
  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but well-drained during the growing season. It loves hydration but will suffer from root rot if left in muddy, stagnant water. Reduce watering significantly in winter.
  • Soil: Thrives in rich, loamy, and highly well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH.
  • Support: Absolutely requires a sturdy trellis, mesh net, or fence. Its tendrils move quickly to grip onto vertical structures
  • Pruning: Prune in early spring to clear away dead wood and control its wild spread. It blooms on new growth, so trimming encourages a higher count of flowers.
