The Laila Majnu Plant (Excoecaria cochinchinensis, commonly known as Chinese Croton, Blindness Tree, or Firestorm) is a mesmerizing tropical shrub belonging to the Euphorbiaceae family. It gets its poetic name "Laila Majnu" from the famous South Asian folklore of star-crossed lovers, beautifully symbolizing the dramatic contrast of its two-toned leaves—intense emerald green on top and fiery crimson-burgundy underneath.

The Perfect Balance: Thrives best in bright, indirect sunlight or dappled, filtered shade.
To Boost the Red: The secret to keeping the underside brilliantly maroon is bright light. If kept in too much shade, the red pigment will fade into a dull, muddy brown or green.
Avoid: Harsh, direct midday afternoon sun, which can easily scorch the delicate variegated leaves, leaving dry bleached patches. A spot with morning sun and afternoon shade is absolute perfection.
